本课程采用课程负责人汪洁琼提出的《景观学理论》LAT新模式（理论批判为主线的讲座串联(lecture)、实践反思为特征的案例分析(analysis ofcase)以及互动启发为手段的研讨教学(tutorial)）。
通过本课程的学习，引导学生进行理论学习，提高他们的理论素养。在重视理论介绍的同时，强调理论的源起及发展背景，培养学生的理论研究能力，尤其是批判性思维的能力。通过本课程的学习，要求研究生掌握风景园林学理论的发展概况,为学习后续课程、开展相关研究打好基础并拓展思维能力，并且在教学过程能获取的各项关键技能。

This course adopts the new LAT model of "Landscape Theory" proposed by course leader Wang Jieqiong (lecture with theoretical criticism as the main line, analysis of case characterized by practical reflection, and discussion and teaching by means of interactive inspiration).
Through the study of this course, students are guided to carry out theoretical learning and improve their theoretical literacy. While attaching importance to the introduction of theory, it emphasizes the origin and development background of theory, and cultivates students' theoretical research ability, especially the ability of critical thinking. Through the study of this course, graduate students are required to grasp the development of landscape architecture theory, lay a good foundation for learning follow-up courses, carry out related research, expand their thinking ability, and acquire key skills in the teaching process.
